How BMI is calculated

BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². It's a simple ratio, not a direct measure of body fat — it doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, or where fat is distributed on the body. Someone very muscular can show a high BMI while having low body fat. For a more complete picture, try the body fat calculator alongside this one.
